Rockin’ In Our School Shoes

WOW! What a wonderful first week we had together! I am enjoying my time with your children each and every day. They are all sweet and caring friends who are ready to learn. Kudos to you all! A friend, whose child is beginning kindergarten as well this year, posted this link and I thought of all of you. To My Fellow Moms, On the First Day of Kindergarten

UnknownLast week we toured the school, read lots of books, opened up some new areas and practiced our safety drills, like our fire drill. We also played outside, ate in the cafeteria, sang LOTS of songs, and learned each others’ names.

Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes was a favorite book we read last week.

This week we will draw our hopes and dreams for our kindergarten year, model our classroom routines, start our person of the day project, begin our math program, Everyday Math, and do more literacy activities with our names.

Remember, this is a big transition for your child. He or She may be more tired  than usual as he/she gets used to the longer day that is much different from the preschool day. Make sure you find quiet time to read, relax and help your child when they need it during this time.

Ms. Purdin 🙂
