Ms. Purdin with her friends since the fifth grade, Emily and Allison. We look just the same as we did then!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend with your families and children. It was nice to have a few days to spend with family and friends who I don’t get to see often. Saturday was the annual “Back the Track” 5K in Marblehead to support the new track and field. My friends and I reunite every year to do it and get together. (And no, Ms. Purdin didn’t “run” – I walked! There’s no way I could keep up with these two who have both run the Boston Marathon!) It was still fun to be a part of it!

This week I am so excited because we are starting our Gingerbread Unit! It is a great way to kick off December and we will read lots of versions of the classic tale. It is a great engaging way to incorporate so many important reading, writing and math skills! This week we will also start our Holiday book reading.

Here’s what we are up to this week:

Langauge Arts:

  • Reading variations of the Gingerbread Man
  • Writing on a topic
  • Fundations week 11: X and Y
  • Ending sounds

Math

  • Finishing our number books
  • numeral recognition 0-10 (sequencing)
  • comparing numbers 0-10

Science

  • How do different animals get ready for winter?

Social Studies/Social Thinking

  • Understanding others perspectives
  • Personal Space

Parent Conferences are on December 6 and 7!
