Hello on this very HOT weekend. Summer is upon us, though we still have a few weeks to go. 🙂 We tried to stay cool as best we could on Friday and spent the day doing projects with our 6th grade buddies and making our last calendars for the year – June! Luckily it looks like it will cool down by Monday.
Yesterday, after school, was our faculty retirement celebration for Mrs. Dunion (6th grade) and Mrs. Beebe (Art). It was truly a wonderful time and enjoyed by all who attended; especially by our guests of honors and their families. They are both special teachers who leave an enduring legacy.
During our presentations to the retirees, I led everyone in saying our school credo (for lack of a better term) because I think it encompasses the true essence of our little school:
“No matter where I wander, no matter where I’ll be, I’ll always have my memories of my school by the sea.”
At the party I met the teacher who actually wrote this saying back in the ’80s. She loved that it was still used and appreciated. Driving over the causeway last night, I found myself just smiling because of all the love for the Johnson School coming from that dedicated group of people.
The Johnson School is a wonderful little school by the sea. I am a lucky gal to get to be there every day with your children. As we wind down another year, I look forward to enjoying the next two and a half weeks with our class. If there is anything I can do to help you in the next couple of weeks or over the summer, never hesitate to email or call.
Thanks for all you do-
Ms. Purdin 🙂
