As I write this, I am here at home during our snow day! The wind is whipping and the newscasters keep talking about a “winter-cane.” Don’t they know we have things to learn in school? That March is an important month in Kindergarten when everything that we’ve been learning all year starts to come together in a richer, deeper way?
Yesterday, we started to learn how to finger knit. I had to teach myself off of You tube, and was feeling confident enough to try to teach our class. In small groups. As a challenge by choice. It actually turned out to be a lot of fun and while there was some frustration, those who wanted to try got a chance and were surprised by their results. There is something to be said of the satisfaction of making something by hand.
And yes, I have also found the satisfaction in learning a craft this year. Knitting has become a great hobby of mine! Though as I told the kids, sometimes it can get frustrating, and when that happens, move to something else and take a break for a bit. 🙂
