Helpful Hints

Despite all the rain this week, I’d say we’re having a great start to our school year together. Today we did some counting, learned a new song (“Have you ever gone a fishin’) and made our September self-portraits. We are continuing to practice and model procedures, and the children are beginning to follow directions more easily. After having them a few days, I have thought of a few helpful hints that will help not only me and Mrs. Clark, but your child and you too!

1. Separate your child’s lunch and snack. If each had it’s own bag or container, it would not have to be a guessing game in the morning. Many children are hungry by 9:30, and see that yummy dessert and want that instead of the healthy snack you packed.

2. LABEL EVERYTHING!!!! With so many friends, it would be most helpful if you labeled all clothing, coats, backpacks, and lunches. Sometimes the rightful owner doesn’t remember if it’s his or her belongings at the end of the day!

3. Tell your child if they are buying milk or not that day, and where you have put the money. It would be most helpful if you put milk money in the lunchbox. You can purchase for the week or month and send it in all at once if that is easier.

4. Toys and “lovies” should stay at home, not come to school.

Thank you!
