A Spring In Our Step…

imageA BIG thank you to our wonderful room parents and the parent volunteers who came in on St. Patrick’s Day with a fantastic shamrock potted plant activity for everyone to make and take home. Aren’t they cute? Who doesn’t love a good watercolor rainbow?

We had lots of St. Patty’s Day fun on Monday and continued this week with some Spring themed projects. We also took a deeper look at non-fiction texts because next week we will be doing some non-fiction writing of our own by making “How to” books. Exciting Stuff!

Today we had a special visitor come to our Morning Meeting. Our school adjustment counselor, Mrs. Lanzarone, has visited us informally before during snack time, but today she came to teach us the most important rule – the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Mrs. Lanzarone (or Mrs. L to the kids) stressed the importance of doing this all time, not just at home or not just at school, or when you want to, but trying to do the kind act always. We have talked a lot about kindness recently in our classroom. Please be sure to have a chat at home (or have a teachable moment) when things come up with your child.

Survey Says…This week children created their own surveys and analyzed their own data! It was fun to see the excitement in the room as children walked around with clipboards asking friends important questions like, “What is your favorite cookie?” or “What kind of polar animal do you like best?” I hope you saw the survey results come home.

Have a great weekend…
Ms. Purdin 🙂
