Sweet Summertime

Hello! I hope you have been having a fun and relaxing summer! Ms. Purdin has been busy since getting out of school, but having lots of new experiences to share with you when we meet in August!

In June, I was the Sand Sculpture Judge for the Marblehead Festival of Arts. It was so much fun being at Deveraux Beach all day and watching the families create beautiful sand art together. If you’re at the beach this summer and build a beautiful sand sculpture, have Mum or Dad snap a photo and bring it in. I’d love to see them.

I wasn’t watching fireworks on the Fourth of July, I was driving 1,800 miles from Boston to Bowling Green, KY for my college roommate Emily’s wedding! We called it “The Bride’s Ride.” I drove with Emily, our other college roommate Caitlin and Emily’s pug dog, Ella. That’s Ella, snoozing in the backseat.

Bowling Green was so hot!! But it had some interesting tourist attractions. I didn’t make it to the National Corvette Museum or Kentucky Down Under, but I did go for a tour of the Lost River Cave. I also got our other college roommate, Anna, to pose with me next to this awesome statue outside our hotel. 🙂 We were all dressed up ready to have a great time at Emily and Matt’s wedding!

When I got back from Bowling Green, it was back to school for Ms. Purdin. Last week I took an outstanding course and am looking forward to implementing many of the new ideas I learned when we come back to school. It made me start to get excited again about getting back and seeing all my new and old friends at the Johnson School.

But before that happens, I’m off for one last summer adventure. Tomorrow I head off to San Fransisco, CA to visit some college friends. I have never been to the West Coast, and my friend who I am staying with has emailed me a detailed itinerary of fun activities for us do together! As a child of the ’80s, I will definitely be getting my picture in front of the “Full House” house! I am looking forward to a great time.

I happened to be in Staples yesterday, so I am posting the kindergarten supply list in case you are out and can’t resist those colorful displays at Target or someplace else. Again, I hope you are having a wonderful summer, and I can’t wait to meet all of you! If you’ve been on a trip this summer, bring in a photo or souvenir to share with us during the first days. I’d love to hear about your adventures.

Sincerely,

Ms. Purdin 🙂
